FAQ
Do you ever travel outside of NYC?
In the past, I’ve included several cities all around NYC, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. but in order to manage the time and travel it takes to continue, I have to stay close to where I’m based (Brooklyn).
If new cities open up in the future, I’ll announce them on Instagram.
How much do the shoots cost?
I offer three unique packages ranging from $375 - $525.
How do you practice Covid-19 safety?
As of April 25th, I am fully vaccinated.
I wear a mask the entire time and ask that you do too until we’re ready to start.
I sanitize my hands before entering your home.
I keep as much distance as possible.
How can I prep for the shoot?
Your home should be super-duper clean and organized. Dust bunnies are not fun to retouch, and clutter is distracting.
If you don’t already have cat treats, pick some up! They always help to motivate the cat.
Make sure to have a lint roller on hand. I won’t remove hair from clothes in post, so it’s best to take care of that as we go along.
How long is the shoot?
For the first two packages, it’s usually one hour, but can be longer depending on how cooperative your cat is. I like to sit and chat with you for the first 10 minutes to get to know you and help the cat feel comfortable with my presence.
The Cat Party package is 2 hours, to account for more people/cats or for cats who need more time to warm up.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you want! But I highly recommend clothing that shows the least amount of cat hair. Black fabric is not ideal, but if you make sure to lint roll frequently I can make it work.
I want to make my home nice and buy flowers, is that ok?
Definitely! But please make sure you buy non-toxic, cat-friendly flowers/plants. The ASPCA has a good list here. But in general, roses are fine and lilies are no good.
What if my cat is shy?
Most cats are shy! I have photographed hundreds of cats who range from super-scared to extremely friendly. I can make almost anything work. But if you think your cat will need extra time to warm up, I suggest booking the Cat Party package which includes an extra hour of shoot time.
I’ve been photographed for GATC before, can I apply again?
Yes! Maybe your cat is aging and you want up-to-date photos. Or maybe you were photographed with a cat who passed away and have since adopted again and want photos with your new cat. Maybe you don’t want to be featured on GATC and just want nice photos. All of that is fine!
Why do you only photograph adopted/rescued cats?
With so many cats in shelters and on the streets, there’s no reason to be buying cats from breeders. I want to support the rescue efforts of all the hard-working people in animal welfare and encourage the adopt-don’t-shop movement.
