Shelter or Rescue Organization Takeover

Story takeovers are a great way for shelters and rescue organizations to get your message to a wider audience, whether it’s showing what’s involved in the rescue process, raising awareness about stray cat overpopulation or introducing your adoptable cats.

If you’re a shelter or rescue organization (international or U.S. based) and would like to do an Instagram takeover, please send an email to apply@girlsandtheircats.com with subject line: GATC Story Takeover: [YOUR SHELTER/RESCUE]

Things to include in your email:

  • An introduction (videos are an added bonus but not required).
    • Just a quick hello and a bit about what you’d like to show us for your takeover. A day in the life of a rescue organization, etc.
  • Recent photos of your team/shelter (together or separate).
    • photos must be attached–no zip files or links to folders
  • Social media handles.
  • A 1-2 sentence bio. Tell me who you are and what your role is. Tell me about your shelter/rescue org.

International Cat Lady Takeover

International cat lady takeovers are a great way for you to show how cat ladies live in other countries. Are they stereotyped like they often are in the U.S.? How are cats valued in your culture? How does the country approach the issue of strays?

If you’re a cat lady based outside the U.S. and would like to do an Instagram story takeover, please send an email to apply@girlsandtheircats.com with subject line: GATC Story Takeover: [YOUR COUNTRY]

Requirements:

  • Cat(s) must be adopted or rescued
  • Cat lady must be from country of takeover (i.e. not from the U.S.)

Things to include in your email:

  • An introduction (videos are an added bonus but not required).
    • Just a quick hello and a bit about what you’d like to show us for your takeover. A day in the life of you and your cats, etc.
  • Recent photos of you and your cat (together or separate).
    • photos must be attached–no zip files or links to folders
